Dani's Mid-Year Update - Checking in with Intentions Therapy

Hello reader,

Happy July! As Pride month comes to a close and we begin the third quarter of the year, I have been reflecting about the ways we can stay centered and connected in the midst of change.

We are half way through 2024! Here’s my check in:

How has this year been going for you thus far? In what ways can you celebrate your progress? What areas of your life are calling for more balance?

Take a moment to check in with yourself:

πŸ‘€πŸ‘ƒπŸŒŽπŸ‘‚

Look up from your screen and orient to your world.

Take in your surroundings: the colors, smells, sounds, textures.

Acquaint yourself with your environment.

Get present.

πŸ˜ŒπŸ©΅πŸš€

On your next inhale, lift your shoulders, and on your exhale, let them drop. Notice where you are in space. Feel your body. Breathe slowly and deeply.

Pay attention to what needs your care and nurturing.

Tend Accordingly.

πŸŽ‰πŸ’πŸŽˆπŸŒŸ

Consider all that it took for you to arrive here. How many connections had to align just right for you make it to the current constellation of your life? Feel into just how much had to go right for you to be here. It is no small achievement. Give yourself credit.

Notice how it feels to orient yourself, to tune in to your needs and to acknowledge your progress. (It gets easier with practice!)

These are some of the tools I teach within my therapy practice to support healing from trauma, burnout, and chronic stress: cultivating mindful embodiment, learning the language of our needs, slowing down, reflecting and connecting.

I'm inspired by the ways my clients are incorporating these tools into their lives and I am incredibly grateful to witness this growth and see how it ripples outward into the world.

If you're interested in releasing beliefs rooted in scarcity, establishing systems and rituals to nurture your needs, and rediscovering the wisdom of your body, consider this your invitation to reach out and begin your healing journey.

Intentions Therapy Practice Updates

  • Availability for New Clients: I have current openings for clients in Florida or Illinois seeking individual therapy, as well as availability in my practice for new couples/relationship coaching clients, professional consultations, or coaching clients (coaching services are available worldwide).
  • Sliding Scale Openings: A few of my regular clients have completed their therapy journey leaving vacant spots in my managed sliding scale. This is rare! Reach out today for a free consultation.
  • Out of Network Reimbursement: To make OON reimbursement as easy as possible for my clients, I have partnered with Mentaya. This is an online service that streamlines getting reimbursed for your therapy sessions through out-of-network mental health benefits. Clients who work with Mentaya get reimbursed 62% on average per session. Sign up for Mentaya here.
    • How it Works: Mentaya charges a 5% fee per claim, which includes handling any paperwork, dealing with denials, and calling your insurance company. Once you register, they will check your benefits and let you know your reimbursement percentage. I enter our sessions on their portal, Mentaya submits your claims and handles all insurance follow up, and you get reimbursed!
  • From Masking to Embracing Visibility: All We Must Unlearn in Order to Heal is my most recent update to the blog. Read this if you have interest in understanding the ways I allow my wounds, identities, and experiences to inform my work. I reflect on my history and training as a therapist and care worker, and all that I have had to unlearn as a provider in order to show up fully in my humanity within my practice.

    • Scheduling: We meet for 90 minutes every other Wednesday from 5-6:30 pm ET / 2-3:30 pm PT

    • Pay What You Can for BIPOC Members: We now offer limited pay what you can spots for neuroqueer members of color, starting at $5. Learn more and apply here.
  • Neuroqueer Newsletter: As an act of collective care, Kim and I compile and share a bi-weekly resource and update newsletter. Subscribe here to follow along!
    .
